The Southern District of the New Territories.
With reference to the letter signed "wireless", which I
recently addressed to you and you publimed in your columis,
I much regret to find that the gentleman IT. E.V.hamilton,
who until recently held the post of mating Assistant District
Officer (South) should bare considered regarded the letter as
a personal attack on himself. No such attack was intended,
er in fact made, the letter being meant merely as comment on
a matter of public interest, namely, the administration of
the Southern District of the New Territories during the last
twenty year 6, by many District officers and others,
LG sole object in writing the letter was to draw
public attention to the apparently apathetée attitude of the
Covernment towards the Southern District in the hope that
such attitude would be modified.
It any furtwan 1f tie letter contained any personal
imputations against the gentleman meeti
Dontained
in the loster kr, hamilton respecting the performance by him
of his duties as Assistant District officer (and I maintain
trere” përé“ nome it did not) such imputations were en ti rely
uain ten tional and I withdraw them unreservedly.
Youre faithfully,
